The Chemex - the coffee you need in your life
Hello my dear readers! Hope you are having a lovely day so far! I have a coffee situation that I would like to share with you - I really must admit, I utterly adore this little coffee gem. And I hope you will too.
As you might have noticed already - I am a big coffee enthusiast. I love to try different ways of making coffee, tastes, and types.
Chemex is something I started using just recently. With the whole pandemic situation and spending much more time at home than usual, I was exploring the wide wide internet for something new and interesting to try in the coffee world. I stumbled upon Chemex and it immediately caught my attention as I have seen it before, I was sure of that, and because it just looks so cool and stylish. It makes good coffee, and it looks sexy, let's be honest here.
So, after writing this paragraph I had to research where I saw it before, of course. And the answer is - the sitcom "Friends". You are welcome. Now, let's talk some more about Chemex.
I am drinking a Chemex cup of coffee right now while typing, btw.
So, Chemex is the real deal they say (the internet) - aaand I was intrigued. My next stop was Amazon. Here the link for it if you would like to check it out here.
As there are different sizes of this little cutie, I decided that I want the 6-cup wood neck one in the end. First, I almost went for the 1-3 cup, but after reading many comments online on how it is definitely not a 3-cup size, I decided to go with the one size bigger one. Good choice that I did, because I would not say the 6 cup is a real 6 cup one, but okay, it is definitely enough for the amount I need. So, happy me.
Chemex is a type of filter coffee, so you will also need filters. I went for the same brand filters; you can also find them on Amazon.
The process of making coffee with a Chemex is super interesting, there are so many videos on YouTube and techniques for it. I would highly recommend watching James Hoffman and his brewing technique if you decide to try Chemex out. This is also the way I am making my Chemex Coffee. He explains everything very precise and is fun to watch, so the perfect combination - if you wish to watch the video, here is the link.
I hope you liked the video. I find it to be very entertaining and it makes me want to make another Chemex coffee straight away.
Oh, and one more thing, I don't buy pre-ground coffee, I always grind it myself. I find that it tastes better, it is fresher that way and I can choose the grind level and play and experiment with it. I use a Graef coffee grinder and love it. Here is the link if you would like to check it out.
To summarize - I would definitely recommend Chemex for anyone who likes to "work" a little bit for a good cup of coffee and does not mind spending 4-7 minutes making it. It is a great tasting filter coffee. The taste will depend also on the type of beans you use.
I like preparing the Chemex coffee, the taste and of course how stylish it is! I am very happy with the new addition to my little coffee world! So, yeah, if you are a fellow coffee enthusiast or you would just like to try out something new - go for it!
I would love to hear from you now - have you tried the Chemex coffee? What are your thoughts about it? If you haven't tried it yet, would you like to try it after reading about it? Let me know what you think on my Instagram or Twitter.
